The vast forests of the Hondsrug also invite discovery. For families, a visit to the nearby outdoor swimming pool ‘t Nije Hemelriek is highly recommended, with clear blue water and a fine sandy beach. There are also various attractions in the area such as Kabouterland in Exloo, the Hunebedcentrum in Borger and the cosy town of Assen with its shops, museums and terraces.
